Chorégraphie de la Main or Choreography of the Hand

What is sketching if not the choreographing of movement for the hand. Instruction that tells the fingers that hold the pen where to go, how lightly to tread, how quickly to dart, or how long to hesitate. It is a dance. It is an art. An art of movement that leaves a line, a dot, a shadow, unlike traditional dance. Once performed, traditional dance is nonexistent, gone. In the twinkling of an eye, a flash of glorious light, all gone. The dancer and the observer are left with nothing tangible, only memories and emotions. Masterpieces or doodles, creation is creation. Let your hands dance and see what happens.

What Can Ballet Do For A Kid? Just Watch!

Avery is 11 years old and Joziah is 12.  Both are self-confident, cordial, calm and collected far beyond their years.  They are well-spoken and polite.  Yeah, I’m sure they each have great parents guiding them along the way, but they also have another influence that has proven remarkable in building up a child in the way he or she should go.

The art of ballet, besides the apparent gifts, also instills in children a sense of discipline, respect, and a work ethic second to none.  Just watch as these two appeared on Steve Harvey’s “Little Big Shots.”  He, who has seen umpteen million kids, was impressed by Avery and Joziah… and that was before they ever danced.

Amazing Control and Isolations. This is way hard, folks.

A dance of beautiful, articulate control!  Must see!

“This dance is a prayer for women who hold themselves back, who do not know their own power, as creators, as healers, as givers of life…”   – Zola Dubnikova
